The Railway Minister Piyush Goyal wants NLC to put up solar plants wherever Railways have land, local newspapers quoted. It would also solve the purpose of saving these lands from encroachers.
Further mentioning the terms of contract, he said that, wherever existing platform of railways are being expanded on both sides because for longer rakes, NLC will create a roof over extended platform and it will have a different rate of power.
Also, further adding, he said, that whenever railways need a land, NLC will shift their equipment’s somewhere else. If the requirement of the land is during the payback period, then NCL can shift it at the cost of Railways.
NLC India is a mining and power company. The company wants to shift its focus completely on Energy and has an aim of generation of power of about 3.990 MW from Solar energy.
