The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has tendered 750 MW and 200 MW worth of solar PV projects in the Indian states of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, respectively.
The grid connected plants will be installed under the National Solar Mission Phase-II, Batch-IV scheme. Earlier today, SECI released a 275 MW tender for grid connected PV projects in Uttar Pradesh – also part of the same scheme.
The 750 MW tender will see capacity distributed across three 250 MW projects at the Kadapa Solar Park, located in Galiveedu Mandal of the Kadapa district in Andhra Pradesh. Each project will be further divided into five 50 MW sub-plants.
Project developers may bid for all three 250 MW plants. Bid submissions are due on March 15.
The 200 MW tender, meanwhile will see capacity allocated across four 50 MW plants, which will be located in the Pavagada Solar Park, in Pavagada Taluk in India’s Tumkur District.
Project developers can bid for all capacity. Bid submissions are due on March 7.
SECI has limited the maximum tariff payable to solar developers to INR 2.93/kWh for both the projects in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The tariff has been kept lower than that for Uttar Pradesh, because of the high irradiation values in the southern Indian states.
SECI will sign 25 year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with the selected bidders, while the power generated from the plants will be sold to the utilities in the respective states.
The Indian government aims to tender 3GW worth of grid connected solar projects in January 2018, out of which 1,225 MW have been announced in the first week of January. Overall, the government plans to announce 20 GW of PV tenders in 2017-18 fiscal year.
