Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation’s approval to 70 MW comes close on the heel of KPI Global Infrastructure recently adding new capacity of 8.827 MW under independent power producer category at its existing solar power plant at Amod in Gujarat. With this addition, the total cumulative capacity of its solar power plant in operation has gone up to 26.25 MW.
The additional capacity was commissioned for industrial customers L&T MHPS Turbine and Generators and Colourtex Industries—both based in Surat—against their power purchase agreement capacities of 2.57 MW and 6.25 MW, respectively.
KPI Global Infrastructure is primarily engaged in generating and selling electricity from solar power projects as independent power producer under the brand name ‘Solarism.’
The company has established a 13.25 km long 66 KV transmission line to the GETCO substation at Amod for evacuation of the solar power generated at its solar plant. “The transmission line to Amod substation has been approved for upgradation from 66 kV to 220 kV by GETCO”—as per a corporate presentation by the company.
KPI is also into captive solar power production and executed 1.9 MW in FY 2018-19 till September 2018. Further 1.78 MW captive projects are under execution.
