Rajasthan Electronics & Instruments Limited (REIL)—which recently tendered  for supply of 25,000 75 Wp solar modules—has now invited bids to supply 5 W solar cells. The cells should be 156×156 mm2 or 156.75×156.75 mm2 in size, with cell thickness (including paste on back/front) of 200±20 µm. Further, these must feature 5 busbars.

Cells with silicon nitride anti-reflection coating are preferred.

Cell-to-module losses must be less than 1.5%. In case of less wattage observed at REIL, the cell manufacturer shall provide single modules of 60 cells and 72 cells each with test report from lab.

First-time suppliers are required to submit a sample of 100 solar cells, free of cost, for evaluation and acceptance by REIL.

Terms and conditions

Only manufacturers are eligible to participate in the tender. Foreign manufacturers can submit offers through their authorised representatives, subject to the offers clearly mentioning the make of the solar cells, backed by authorisation letters from the manufacturers. Offers will not be considered if they include quotes from more than one manufacturer.

Bidders are required to quote fixed prices for the entire contract period of one year, with 25% of the tender earmarked for micro and small enterprise suppliers. Indigenous manufacturers will be given preference, provided their products meet quality standards and specifications.
