What a difference 280 characters can make. A tweet written late this afternoon claims to herald the arrival of a new record low price for Indian solar.
Bloomberg New Energy Finance associate Atin Jain this afternoon tweeted the latest 2 GW solar tender conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) had closed with a lowest price of Rs2.36/kWh, beating the previous mark of Rs2.44/kWh.
pv magazine was alerted to the claim when it was retweeted by BloombergNEF colleague Vandana Gombar.
According to Jain, the auction concluded with agreements to buy the solar power generated by the 2 GW of facilities at Rs2.36-2.38/kWh, over a 25-year contract.
pv magazine is attempting to confirm the auction results.
