BHEL seeks containerized PCUs for 20 MW NTPC solar plant in Gujarat

Share

State-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) is executing the engineering, procurement and construction work for a 20 MW solar project of NTPC in Gandhar town of Gujarat. It has invited bids to supply 3-phase grid-connected power conditioning units (of 1500V rating) housed in 1×5 MW container or 2×2.5MW container for the project. Overall, four numbers of such 5 MW PCU containers are required.

The scope of work for the successful vendor includes the commissioning of the supplied units at the project site for synchronizing the generated AC power with the low-voltage side of a transformer that connects to the 33kV grid on the high-voltage side. The vendor shall also be responsible for the comprehensive annual maintenance of the containerized PCUs.

To be eligible, the bidder should be an original equipment manufacturer and should have supplied and commissioned at least ten numbers of 2.5 MW or higher capacity containerized PCUs (1500V systems) for solar plants in India during the last three years. Further, it should have a service center in India.

Technical criteria

To maximize energy collection from the solar array, the PCU shall have an inbuilt maximum power point tracker (MPPT) controller. The MPPT shall operate the PV array at its maximum power point by adjusting the output voltage of the PV array system according to atmospheric conditions.

Further, the PCU shall be capable of operating in the frequency range of 47.5 Hz to 52 Hz and shall deliver rated output in the frequency range of 49.5 Hz to 50.5 Hz.
