Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd (MSEDCL) has invited bids to develop an aggregate 1.3 GW (AC) capacity of ground-mounted solar projects across 29 districts in the State. The district-wise cumulative capacity to be installed is either 25 MW or 50 GW.

The projects are to be set up under “Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana” for giving day-time power to agricultural consumers.

Foreign companies, registered as per the rules of their country of origin, are also allowed to participate in the bidding process.

The MSEDCL shall enter into a 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the successful developers. The maximum tariff payable to the project developers is fixed at INR 3.05 per unit for the entire PPA duration.

The solar power generator shall be responsible for design, finance, procurement of land, engineering, procurement, construction, operation and maintenance of the projects.

“Projects under construction, projects which are not yet commissioned and projects already commissioned but do not have any long-term PPA with any agency, and selling power on short-term or merchant plant basis shall be eligible”—as per the tender document.
