GoodWe inverters power 6 MW rooftop solar plant at India refinery

China’s GoodWe today announced its 95 inverters of 50K-MT G2 and 60K-MT G2 models have been used in a 6.063 MWp rooftop solar plant for Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL). The solar plant, at MRPL’s refinery site in Karnataka, was commissioned by Tata Power Solar and is spread across 34 rooftops within the refinery premises.

There are some sites inside the plant where the presence of chemical gases puts inverters at risk of rusting due to chemical reactions that can take place in a gaseous environment. GoodWe inverters still perform well in this kind of difficult environment. Featuring 150% DC oversizing and 115% AC overloading ratio, this 6MW solar project with GoodWe MT G2 series is running smoothly and efficiently, GoodWe stated.

GoodWe’s MT Series inverters are equipped with IP66 enclosures, which means the inverters are protected from total dust ingress and high-pressure water jets from any direction. The C5 corrosion class also protects the inverters from high humidity and adverse atmospheric conditions.

The solar plant is generating more than 24,000 units (kWh) of electricity per day, which will amount to more than 8.8 million units per annum.
