Sterling and Wilson Solar has announced the elevation of Shilpa Urhekar to the position of national head-India for its solar EPC business. Prior to this role, Shilpa served Sterling and Wilson as head of operations.

Before joining Sterling and Wilson, Shilpa worked as general manager at Welspun Group, where she was instrumental in establishing a new business vertical of distributed energy solar solutions with a strong pipeline of strong government and industry clients.

Shilpa took to the corporate world after retiring as a Squadron Leader from the Indian Air Force (IAF). At the IAF, she assumed an operational, ‘hands-on’ leadership role for eleven years and participated on field in Op-Parakram and Kargil war.

“Being one of the first few women officers in the Indian Airforce, Shilpa has adopted multiple leadership lessons learned while serving her country to her corporate life. Taking challenges head-on, quick decision making, and keeping a steady nerve in most difficult situations are some of the key lessons she has brought on to the corporate world,” said a release from Sterling and Wilson Solar.

“We believe, with her leadership, Sterling and Wilson Solar will scale new heights and achieve its goals in the India market, while also supporting the country towards its plan of reducing carbon emissions.”
