Assam Power Generation Corporation Limited (APGCL) has invited bids from consultants to conduct the feasibility study and prepare a detailed project report for a 70-90MW floating solar project at Sonbeel lake in the Karimganj District of Assam.
Sonbeel is the second-largest freshwater lake in Asia. Every year, the lake becomes full of water during the rainy season and dries up in winter.
“APGCL through this tender intends to conduct a feasibility study to ascertain the most suitable area out of the entire wetland of Sonbeel for setting up of the 70-90 MW floating solar PV project, because a certain portion of the beel area dries up in winter season,” reads the tender document.
The consulting firm must have provided consultancy services for preparation of detailed project reports of at least three or more solar projects (ground-mounted or floating) of capacity not less than 10MW each in the last seven years, out of which at least one shall be a floating solar project of minimum 10MW capacity.
