The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has delayed the implementation of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) requirement to open-access or net-metering projects by six months, providing some relief to the developers who had been expecting the mandate to be delayed by at least one year.
As per the latest amendment, the ALMM requirement will apply to projects that request open access or net metering from October 1, 2022. Accordingly, only the models and manufacturers included in the ALMM list will be eligible for use in open access and net-metering projects.
These include projects set up to sell electricity to the government under the guidelines issued by the central government under Section 63 of the Electricity Act, 2003, and projects under Component A of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) program.
In January the Ministry had expanded the scope of the ALMM to open access and net-metering projects, in addition to government-backed installations. The amendment was set to apply to projects that requested open access or net metering from April 1, 2022.
