Gurugram-based Acme Group has signed an agreement with Japan-based NYK Line for cooperation in green ammonia. As per the agreement, the two companies will explore the possibility of NYK becoming a strategic shipping partner for Acme’s green ammonia projects.
NYK is part of the world’s first international demonstration operation to transport hydrogen. It owns and operates a large fleet of ships, including container ships, bulk carriers, very large crude oil carriers, and liquefied natural gas carriers. The company is actively engaged in the transportation of hydrogen and ammonia and the development of ships that will run on alternative fuels such as ammonia.
Acme and NYK will explore offering green ammonia to customers globally, whereby ammonia would be supplied from Acme-developed projects, and NYK would be the shipping partner. This is in furtherance of Acme’s efforts to establish itself as a leading green ammonia player globally, said Rajat Seksaria, chief executive officer of Acme Group.
Acme is a sustainable energy company that has positioned itself among the leaders working on developing large-scale green ammonia projects. It has already commissioned a pilot project in Rajasthan in India. Along with its joint venture partner Scatec, it is also developing a 1.2 MTPA green ammonia facility in Oman in phases.
