West Bengal-headquartered Websol Energy System will install a new solar cell and module manufacturing plant with a capacity of up to 1.8 GW. The plant will produce high-efficiency mono-PERC and TopCon products.
The company’s board members have approved the proposal to set up the plant. It will scrap its current facilities, if required, to set up the new factory. It also said that several undisclosed power developers have already expressed plans to buy PV modules from the facility.
Websol Energy System, formerly Webel SL Energy Systems, is a manufacturer of monocrystalline solar cells and modules in India. It was founded in 1990 and operates an integrated cell and module production facility in the Falta special economic zone in West Bengal.
