ReNew Power setting up 2 GW solar cell, module fab in Gujarat

ReNew Power, one of India’s largest private-sector renewable energy producers, is putting up a 2 GW solar cell and module manufacturing facility in Gujarat which it expects to become operational by September next year. It is setting up the plant over 100 acres at Dholera Industrial City Development Ltd, with an investment of INR 2,000 crore ($246.3 million).  

“Construction of Phase 1 of the ReNew Power factory unit at Dholera Industrial City Development Limited is in full swing and is planned to be operational in the third quarter of 2023. This solar cell and module manufacturing facility will have an annual capacity of 2 GW,” ReNew Power confirmed to pv magazine

The plant will be equipped with state-of-the-art technology to produce the latest products.

“The capacity of the module plant is 2.4 GW. The cell line initially will have 2 GW capacity, expandable to 4 GW in the future,” stated ReNew Power. 

ReNew Power estimates the plant to generate employment opportunities for nearly 1,250 people in the State.

ReNew develops, builds, owns, and operates utility-scale wind energy, solar energy, and hydro projects. As of October 10, 2022, it had a gross total portfolio of 13.4 GW of renewable energy projects across India, including commissioned and committed projects.
