Jindal Stainless has signed a contract with renewable energy developer ReNew Power to develop a utility-scale wind-solar hybrid project for its self-consumption.
The captive project will power Jindal Stainless’ increase in combined production capacity from 1.9 MTPA to 2.9 MTPA.
The project is scheduled for commissioning by May 2024 and will supply power to Jindal Stainless facility in the Jajpur district of Odisha. It is expected to generate 700 million units of electricity per year and help Jindal Stainless avoid carbon emission by over 6.5 lakh tonnes per year.
