NTPC launches 1.5 GW/9 GWh energy storage tender

Share

NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL) is accepting bids to develop a cumulative energy storage capacity of a minimum 1.5 GW/9 GWh anywhere in India, provided these are connected to the inter-state transmission system. The project, to be developed on a build-own-operate basis, will be awarded by competitive bidding followed by reverse auction.

NTPC REL will sign a 25-year energy storage service agreement on an annual fixed charge basis with the successful bidders.

NTPC REL will supply renewable energy for charging the energy storage project and utilize the energy storage facility, on an “on-demand” basis, to meet its round-the-clock renewable and/or peak power requirements.

The project size will be minimum of 100 MW/600 MWh.

Already commissioned projects will not be considered. However, projects under construction or projects that are not yet commissioned will be considered in case these projects are not already accepted under any other central or state schemes.
