Schneider Electric, the global leader in the digital transformation of energy management and next-gen automation, has laid the foundation stone for its new manufacturing plant in Kolkata, West Bengal. The factory, located at Prospace Industrial Park, will span an area of 9 acres and involve an investment of INR 140 crore.

“Schneider Electric aims to accelerate and significantly grow its capacity in producing products such as vacuum interrupters (VI) and strengthen its power systems vertical through this new factory,” stated Schneider Electric.

This new facility is planned to be completed by February 2024, with the manufacturing operations expected to start in the second quarter of the next financial year.

In December 2022, Schneider Electric announced the consolidation of six of its existing factories to launch one of its largest smart factories, globally, in Bengaluru. In Sept 2022, it launched the construction of its new smart factory in Hyderabad, which, upon completion, will be its second smart factory in the city.
