State-run power producer NTPC announced this week that its arm NTPC Renewable Energy has secured a 500 MW round-the-clock renewable power supply project. The project was awarded by REMCL, a joint venture of the Ministry of Railways and RITES Ltd.

The capacity won is a major slice of a total of 900 MW auctioned.

REMCL will sign a 25-year power purchase agreement with NTPC.

NTPC will supply round-the-clock green power to REMCL from its project combining solar and wind resources.
