State-run power producer NTPC will conduct a feasibility study for a 130 MW floating solar power plant in Tripura’s Gomati district. The plant is proposed on Dumbur Lake in the state.
As of April 30, 2023, Tripura had only 17.93 MW of installed solar power capacity, which includes 5 MW ground-mount, 4.78 MW rooftop, and 8.15 MW off-grid installations.
As the state aims to tap renewable energy in a big way, the state government of Tripura has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NTPC Renewable Energy Ltd (NTPC REL) to develop floating solar and ground-mounted based renewable energy projects in Tripura.
