Tata Power to add 9 MWp solar at Tata Motors’ Uttarakhand factory

Share

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), an arm of Tata Power, will develop a 9 MWp on-site, ground-mount solar plant at Tata Motors’ Pantnagar factory in Uttarakhand. This solar plant will be the largest on-site solar facility in Uttarakhand. It will supply electricity to the Pantnagar facility under a power purchase agreement signed recently.

The latest addition will expand Uttarakhand factory’s PV capacity to 16 MWp. The facility’s earlier 7 MWp was also developed by Tata Power.

The project is set for commissioning within six months of signing the PPA.

The solar installation is estimated to generate 224 lakhs units annually, allowing Tata Motors to meet around 60% of the annualized requirement at its Uttarakhand factory.

With this, TPREL’s total renewables portfolio will reach 7,783 MW, including 4,132 MW of operating capacity (3,139 MW solar and 993 MW wind) and 3,651 MW under various stages of implementation.
