Shell Energy commits over $363 million for renewable energy plant, EV charging stations in Gujarat

Shell Energy India has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Gujarat government to invest INR 3,500 crore towards renewable energy production, EV charging, and LNG regasification terminal projects in Gujarat. 

Under this MoU, Shell Energy India will invest INR 2,200 crore to set up a plant for renewable energy production in Banaskantha, North Gujarat. The plant, spanning 1,200 acres, is estimated to provide direct and indirect employment to more than 1,000 people. It is expected to commence commercial production by 2026.

In addition, Shell Energy India will invest INR 800 crore in fuel retailing EV recharge stations in various locations of the state, thereby providing employment opportunities to around 2,000 people. This project will be operational by 2027.

Shell Energy India Pvt Ltd will invest INR 500 crore in the LNG Regasification Terminal, Asset Integrity Rejuvenation, and Debottlenecking Project. This project will create employment opportunities for 375 people, and it is expected to commence commercial production by 2027.
