REI 2023: Jakson unveils bifacial solar panels based on TOPCon technology

Share

Jakson has unveiled n-type dual-glass solar panels based on TOPCon technology. The JN-590W model offers peak power output of 590W (under standard temperature conditions) and an efficiency of 22.86%.

The module is built with M10 half cells and 16 busbars. It offers bifacial gain of up to 25% with the module capable of energy generation with both direct and reflected sunlight. Bifaciality factor is 80±5%.

The module measures 2,278×1,133×35 mm in size and weighs 33 kg. It can operate within a temperature range of -40 C to +85 degree Celsius and has a Voc temperature coefficient of -0.25% per degree Celsius and Pmax temperature coefficient of -0.30% per degree Celsius.

Speaking to pv magazine, Anurag Garg, COO-solar business, Jakson said, More and more manufacturers in India are focusing on TOPCon technology as the price difference (INR/Wp) between TOPCon and mono PERC modules is reducing. These modules give more output from the same size. Also, there is a flexibility with respect to TOPCon cell production as mono PERC cell manufacturers can switch to TOPCon cell production with certain add-ons and modifications to their existing lines.

Garg said, TOPCon will take the front stage by the end of next year. However, mono PERC will continue to exist for some time as was the case with polycrystalline technology.

Jakson is expanding module manufacturing capacity to 1.2 GW with the addition of a 600 MW line. The new line will produce glass-glass mono PERC and TOPCon modules with up to 16 busbars.
