India’s solar module imports in FY 2023-24’s six months ending September hit $1,136.28 million, surpassing the nation’s pv panel imports for the entire FY 2022-23 ($943.53 million). China continues to be the top supplier to the Indian market. It provided solar panels worth $501.9 million in H1 FY 2023-24 compared to $874.89 million in the twelve months of FY 2022-23. It is followed by Vietnam and Hongkong, which supplied modules worth $455.8 million and $121.82 million in the first six months of FY 2024 compared to $39.63 million and $3.04 million in FY 2023, respectively.
H1 FY 2024 imports from Malaysia stood at $43.08 million.
India’s imports of PV cells (not assembled in modules or made up into panels) in H1 FY 2023-24 stood at $1,005.07 million, compared to $1,310.28 million for the twelve months of FY 2022-23. China was the largest supplier with shipments worth $499.98 million. It was followed by Malaysia ($264.19 million) and Thailand ($138.07 million).
