NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL) has signed an agreement with the government of Maharashtra to develop a green hydrogen to green ammonia project with a capacity of up to one million tonne per annum (mtpa). It will invest around INR 80,000 crore into setting up the project.
As per the agreement signed, NGEL will also develop 2 GW of pump hydro projects and renewable energy projects with or without storage up to 5 GW in the state [purportedly for the production of green hydrogen through renewables-powered electrolysis of water].
