Airtouch Solar, an Israel-based developer of cleaning equipment for utility-scale solar PV plants, announced this week its partnership with Vena Energy, a global renewable energy company with projects in India and across the Asia Pacific region. Airtouch Solar will supply and install innovative water-free robotic cleaning systems for Vena Energy’s 48 MWp solar plant in India.
Scheduled for installation at the site by Q2 2024, these state-of-the-art cleaning robots employ a waterless technology to combat dust accumulation on solar panels.
“Not only does this approach result in a more rapid cleaning cycle, but it also significantly boosts energy generation, ultimately enhancing the overall return on investment (ROI) for Vena Energy. Additionally, this robotic dry-cleaning system aligns seamlessly with Vena Energy’s dedication to reducing water usage, supporting the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goal 6 on sustainable water management,” stated Airtouch Solar.
Headquartered in Singapore, Vena Energy owns, develops, constructs, operates, manages, and commercialises renewable energy projects across Asia Pacfic, with a local presence of 900 employees across 79 corporate and site offices in Japan, North Asia and Australia, Southeast Asia, and India. Its business is organised into onshore (wind and solar), offshore wind, and energy storage (stationary and transportable storage) verticals across the Asia Pacific region. As of June 2023, its total portfolio capacity of onshore, offshore, and battery assets is 45 GW across Asia-Pacific.
Tal Laufer, CEO of Airtouch Solar Group, expects their collaboration with Vena Energy expanding in India and beyond. “This transaction not only strengthens Airtouch’s cleaning solutions but, with local production and an excellent level of service, positions the company to maintain its leadership in the market,” said Laufer.
Airtouch Solar, which began operations in year 2017, develops, manufactures, markets, operates and maintains autonomous robotic solutions for dry cleaning (water-free) of photovoltaic panels. It operates two production centers – in Israel and India. The company operates, manufactures and sells its products and services in Israel and India, and it is currently examining and promoting processes of entering new target markets, mainly the US.
To date, Airtouch has secured agreements with customers for product installations on facilities with a total capacity exceeding 6.6 GW, with over 3 GW already successfully installed.
