Solar Energy Corp. of India Ltd (SECI), under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), has commissioned India’s largest battery energy storage system (BESS) with an installed capacity of 152.325 MWh and dispatchable capacity of 100 MW AC (155.02 MW peak DC) solar power with 40 MW/120 MWh BESS in Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh.
The solar power would be purchased by Chhattisgarh State Power Distribution Co. Ltd (CSPDCL) to meet the energy demand of the state during peak hours.
The project is supported by the World Bank, SECI’s internal resources, and domestic loans. Tata Power Solar Systems is the EPC and 10-year operation and maintenance support provider.
