Solar Energy Corp. of India (SECI) has invited proposals to set up 2 GWh (1 GW x 2 hours) of interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected projects of standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS). It will enter into a battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA) with the successful bidders for providing energy storage facility to the buying entities as per the terms, conditions and provisions of the tender and BESPA.

Developers selected by SECI will set up the BESS on a build-own-operate basis at the locations identified by them.

SECI will procure energy storage facility from these energy storage systems on behalf of the different buying entities of India.

A single developer can bid for a minimum cumulative project capacity of 50 MW/100 MWh and maximum 1,000 MW/2,000 MWh. Project capacity must be quoted in integral values.
