Juniper Green secures PPAs for 480 MW of hybrid wind-solar

Juniper Green Energy has announced the signing of two power purchase agreements (PPAs) for 480 MW of hybrid renewable energy projects. PPAs have been secured for capacities won under NTPC’s tranche-1 hybrid tender and Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd’s phase-1 hybrid tender.

The NTPC project will be Juniper Green Energy’s largest hybrid project to date. It will comprise 290 MW of hybrid capacity (210 MW solar and 80 MW wind) across Gujarat and Rajasthan. This project will produce 633 million units (MUs) of electricity per year, reducing carbon emissions by 590,810 tonnes and powering 126,165 households.

Under the PPA with GUVNL, Juniper Green will set up 190 MW of hybrid capacity (140 MW solar and 50 MW wind). The project is set to generate 412 MUs of electricity annually, offsetting 384,067 tonnes of CO2 and supplying clean energy to 82,016 households.

Juniper Green Energy is a private-sector renewable power producer and operator of solar, wind and hybrid power projects with significant experience in conceptualizing, building, and developing renewable energy assets. The company is part of the AT Group, which has an asset portfolio worth of around $2.5 billion with global investments in renewable energy, residential, commercial real estate, hospitality etc. The Group has been building utility scale renewable energy projects in India since 2010 and built and owned Orange Renewable, a 1 GW renewable energy platform in the past.

Juniper Green Energy, based out of Delhi NCR, commenced operations in October 2018. Presently, it has an operational portfolio of about 1 GW with an under-construction capacity of 2 GW and a development pipeline of close to 5 GW of solar, wind and hybrid projects. The company has end-to-end internal competencies in EPC and O&M services for its renewable projects.
