JSW Energy announced today that its arm JSW Neo Energy has received Letter of Award for setting up a 300 MW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind-solar hybrid power project from NTPC Ltd. It secured the project through tariff-based competitive bid in a 1 GW auction by NTPC (NTPC-Tranche-VI).
In a separate development, JSW Energy’s step-down arm JSW Renew Energy Twenty has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Bangalore Electricity Supply Co. Ltd (BESCOM) for a 300 MW solar capacity. The project was awarded by Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd (KREDL).
The PPA is signed for supply of power until FY 2044 at a tariff of INR 2.89 ($0.034)/kWh. The project will be located in Pavagada Solar Park, Karnataka, and is set for commissioning in the next 18 months. The current solar pipeline capacity stands at 3.2 GW with PPAs signed for 1.3 GW.
JSW Energy has total locked-in generation capacity of 16.7 GW comprising 7.5 GW operational and 2.3 GW under-construction projects across wind, thermal and hydro and a RE pipeline of 6.9 GW (PPAs signed for 2.3 GW). The company also has 4.2 GWh of locked-in energy storage capacity through battery energy storage system and pumped hydro storage project.
The company aims to reach 20 GW generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity before 2030. It targets Carbon Neutrality by 2050.
