NTPC Green Energy Ltd (NGEL), an arm of NTPC Ltd, has entered into a joint venture agreement (JVA) with Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology (MAHAPREIT). The JV company will undertake development of 10 GW of renewable energy parks and projects in Maharashtra or in any other state of India.
MAHAPREIT is an arm of state-run Mahatma Phule Backward Class Development Corp. (MPBCDC). It establishes and undertakes the business of generation, trading, operating, leasing and renting renewable power projects.
Last year, MAHAPREIT collaborated with Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) to implement 500 MW of rooftop solar for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and 500 MW of ground-mounted decentralised solar under PM KUSUM program.
