Solar Energy Corp. of India Ltd (SECI) has withdrawn the debarment notice issued to Reliance Power with immediate effect. Accordingly, the Company and its subsidiaries, except Reliance NU BESS Ltd (formerly known as Maharashtra Energy Generation Limited), are eligible to participate in all tenders issued by SECI.

Reliance Power and its arm were barred by SECI from participating in government tenders for three years after submitting what SECI described as “fake” financial documents as part of a SECI battery energy storage tender. Reliance Power’s arm Reliance NU BESS had bid for a slice of a tender for 1 GW/2 GWh of standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS), under the name Maharashtra Energy Generation Ltd.

In its notice for three-year ban, SECI gave the reason that while submitting a bid to SECI, Reliance NU BESS [Maharashtra Energy Generation Ltd] had submitted fake endorsement of the bank guarantee against earnest money deposit.

H.G. Infra Engineering has incorporated a wholly owned subsidiary company named H.G. Banaskantha Bess Pvt Ltd to carry out business in the field of battery energy storage systems. The company was recently declared as a qualified bidder by the Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd for 250 MW/500 MWh out of the total tendered capacity of 500 MW/1000 MWh standalone battery energy storage systems with viability gap funding support in Gujarat.

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL) has secured the power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 400 MW wind-solar hybrid project with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Co. Ltd (MSEDCL).

TPREL had secured the project through competitive bidding in an auction by MSEDCL. The project marks TPREL’s largest renewable energy project in state of Maharashtra. It includes an original contracted capacity of 200 MW, along with a greenshoe option for an additional contracted capacity of 200 MW.
