Juniper Green Energy has signed an agreement with First Solar, Inc. for the procurement and supply of 1 GW of First Solar’s Series 7 FT1 cadmium telluride (CdTe) thin film photovoltaic (PV) modules. The Gurgaon-based renewable energy company will deploy these modules in the coming financial year for its projects across Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra.

Under the agreement, First Solar will supply PV modules from its Chennai manufacturing plant over a two-year period.

“The agreement allows Juniper Green Energy to reduce its dependence on China given that these modules are truly domestic with no reliance on China’s crystalline silicon supply chains,” stated Juniper Green Energy.

The Series 7 FT1 modules are enlisted in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) published by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. These  comply with domestic content requirement (DCR) and are certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The modules have been created specifically for India’s ground-mount PV market to optimize balance of system (BOS) costs and reduce the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) for India’s PV projects.

Juniper Green Energy, a private-sector renewable power producer, is part of the AT Group which has an asset portfolio worth of approximately $2.5 billion with global investments in renewable energy, residential & commercial real estate, hospitality, etc. Juniper Green Energy, based out of Delhi NCR, commenced operations in October 2018. The business presently has an operational portfolio of over 1 GW with an under-construction capacity of 3 GW and a development pipeline of close to 6 GW across solar, wind and hybrid projects.
