Hero Future Energies, the renewable energy arm of the Hero Group, has commissioned a 29 MWp solar project in Chitradurga, Karnataka, for offtake by the commercial and industrial (C&I) sector.
The solar project is expected to generate 33 million units of green energy annually, helping to offset CO₂ reduction of 31,624 tones.
The power generated from this plant will be supplied to BASF India, KEMS Forging, VRKP Sponge and Power Plant, and Aurigene Oncology. HFE has already secured power purchase agreements with these corporates.
HFE recently also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Karnataka to invest INR 11,000 crore in renewable energy and green hydrogen projects across the state.
Hero Future Energies has a global RE portfolio of 7.5 GWp (operating or under-construction projects) across India, Ukraine, Bangladesh, Vietnam, and the UK. The company is backed by International Finance Corp. (IFC) and KKR.
