2. Solar industry faces collapse amid surplus and plunging prices
The global photovoltaic (PV) market is facing a crisis of oversupply, plunging prices, and mounting losses across the entire supply chain, from polysilicon to modules. According to BloombergNEF’s 3Q 2024 Global PV Market Outlook, the solar industry, long hailed as a beacon of hope in the transition to renewable energy, is grappling with systemic overcapacity that threatens the financial viability of manufacturers worldwide.
3. Longi launches anti-dust solar module for C&I segment
The module for the the Australian market allows water to run freely off its surface, so dusty residue does not build up around the edges where the frame meets the glass. However, the module still has traditional framing on its longer sides, so the modules must be mounted on a vertical axis, rather than horizontally.
4. Premier Energies to enter aluminium frame manufacturing
Indian solar manufacturer Premier Energies has announced plans to foray into aluminium frame manufacturing business by setting up a 36,000 metric ton per annum facility for captive consumption. “This project would require a capex of INR 230 crore, wherein the equity portion of 25% will be funded through internal accruals,” said Chiranjeev Saluja, managing director of Premier Energies.
