Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) has invited bids to set up standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS), connected with the State Grid, for 1,000 MWh (500 MW x 2 hours) of energy storage capacity with complete two cycles of charging/discharging operation of the BESS. GUVNL will enter into a battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA) with the successful bidders.
The prospective developers will set up the BESS on a build own operate (BOO) basis and make the energy storage facility available to GUVNL for charging/discharging of the BESS on an “on demand” basis, suited to the requirements of the State DISCOMs during peak and off-peak hours.
The minimum bid size is 100 MWh (50 MW x 2 hours) and in multiples of 50 MW/100 MWh thereafter.
Bidding closes on Feb. 24.
GUVNL has floated a separate tender to procure 250 MW solar power from grid-connected PV projects to be set up anywhere in India with Greenshoe option of additional capacity up to 250 MW without energy storage. The bidders selected by GUVNL will set up solar power projects on a build-own-operate basis. GUVNL may decide to enter into PPA with successful bidders for a period of 25 years from the scheduled commissioning date of the project.
“Projects under construction, projects which are not yet commissioned and projects already commissioned but do not have any long term PPA with any agency and selling power on short-term or merchant plant basis wil be considered, in case these projects are not already accepted under any other Central or State Schemes and do not have any obligations towards existing buyers,” states the tender document.
Bidding closes on Feb. 10.
