NTPC Ltd has invited bids for selection of solar power generators to set up 1.2 GW of solar PV power projects with 600 MW/2,400 MWh (600 MW X 4 hours) of energy storage systems (ESS). The projects are to be developed on a build-own-operate (BOO) basis. These will connect to the interstate transmission system grid and can be located anywhere in India. Bidding closes on March 13.
Telangana Power Generation Corp. Ltd (TGGENCO), state-owned electricity generation company in Telangana, has proposals for setting up standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS), connected with the State Grid, for an aggregate storage capacity of 500 MWh (250 MW x 2 hours) with complete two-cycle charging/discharging operation of the BESS. TGGENCO shall enter into a battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA) with the successful bidders. The projects will be supported with viability gap funding. TGGENCO seeks to utilize energy storage systems, on an “on-demand” basis, suited to the requirements of the State DISCOMs during the peak and off-peak hours.
