NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam Ltd has invited proposals from developers to set up State transmission utility (STU) connected standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) for an aggregate storage capacity of 1000 MWh (500 MW x 2 hours) in Rajasthan. The projects are eligible for central financial assistance in the form of viability gap funding.

The minimum bid size is 100 MWh (50 MW x 2 hours).

The selected BESS developer will install, operate and maintain the BESS to offer the energy storage facility to NVVN to charge and discharge the BESS on an on-demand basis, suited to the requirements of Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Ltd (the end procurer) during the peak and off-peak hours. The total project capacity of 1000 MWh will be located at Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Ltd generating stations in Rajasthan.

The BESS developer will make the BESS available for two complete charge-discharge cycles per day.

NVVN, as the BESS Implementing Agency (BIA), will enter into a battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA) with the successful bidders. The charging power for the BESS shall be provided by the end procurer (Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services).
