Bihar State Power Generation Co. Ltd (BSPGCL) has invited bids to set up standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) for an aggregate storage capacity of 125 MW/500 MWh in Bihar. The BESS will connect to the State Grid Sub-Stations, and the developer must make the BESS available for one complete charging/discharge cycle per day.
The projects selected under this tender shall be eligible for central financial assistance in the form of viability gap funding (VGF).
BSPGCL, BSPHCL, and Bihar DISCOMs shall enter into a battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA) with the successful bidders. BESS developers selected by BSPGCL will set up the BESS on a build-own-operate-transfer (BOOT) basis.
“The total capacity of 500 MWh has been approved along with VGF support of 27Lakh/MWh or 30% of the capital cost, whichever is lower, aggregating to INR 135 crore for the project,” states the tender document.
