Textile major RMP Group has partnered with Voltanova, a deeptech firm incubated by the Foundation of Science, Innovation and Development (FSID) at IISc, to deploy a thermal energy storage system. The solution, said to be India’s lowest-cost thermal energy storage, will help RMP decarbonize its industrial operations and set a new standard for sustainable practices in the sector.

Voltanova said its thermal energy storage delivers high-temperature, 100% carbon-free industrial energy at one-fifth the cost of existing battery energy storage solutions. With an efficiency of 95%, it eliminates reliance on fossil fuels by converting renewable energy into high-temperature industrial heat and power. Designed for multi-day energy storage, it ensures uninterrupted 24/7 operations, making it ideal for energy-intensive sectors like steel, cement, textiles, food and beverages, chemicals, and paper.

RMP Group has machinery and manufacturing units in Panipat and Faridabad. Producing 45 million meters of fabric annually, the company caters to major global apparel brands, including Zara, H&M, American Eagle, Next, and GAP. With a sharp focus on sustainability, RMP Group is now aiming to take its commitment to the next level, aligning with India’s net-zero goal and meeting the growing demand for sustainable practices from the world’s leading fashion brands.
