Coal miner SCCL signs 1.5 GW solar MoU with RVUNL

State-owned coal miner Singareni Collieries Co. Ltd (SCCL) and Rajasthan power utility Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Ltd (RVUNL) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to set up 1.5 GW solar park in Rajasthan.

SCCL and RUVNL will form a joint venture company to set up the park with an investment of INR 6,000 crore. RUVNL has already identified the land for the park.

Under its new integrated clean energy policy, Rajasthan targets 125 GW renewable energy capacity by 2029-30. This includes 90 GW from solar installations, 25 GW from wind and hybrid projects, and 10 GW from hydro, pump storage, and battery energy storage systems.

The state has installed cumulative solar capacity of 27,347 MW as of Jan 31, 2025.
