Waaree Energies receives EcoVadis Gold Medal for sustainability practices

Share

Waaree Energies has become the first Indian solar PV manufacturer to receive a gold medal from EcoVadis, a France-based international sustainability ratings organization. With a 97th percentile ranking, Waaree Energies joins the top 5% of companies worldwide assessed for their environmental, social, and ethical business practices.

EcoVadis assesses companies for sustainability business practices across four themes: environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement.

Beyond industry recognition, the EcoVadis certification brings multifaceted benefits to businesses. It enhances a company’s global reputation, strengthens its eligibility for partnerships with ESG-conscious organizations, and opens new market opportunities. The rigorous evaluation process also aids in risk mitigation by identifying potential environmental, social, and governance vulnerabilities within operations and supply chain. Moreover, the adoption of sustainable practices optimizes resource management, reduces waste, and unlocks long-term cost efficiencies- contributing to both environmental stewardship and financial performance.

Waaree Energies strives to decarbonize the solar value chain—from sourcing to manufacturing to installation. The company had recently earned Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) certification for its low-carbon solar modules as well.

Headquartered in Mumbai, Waaree Energies operates state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities with an installed capacity of 15 GW for solar PV modules globally (including 1.3 GW of Indosolar and 1.6 GW in Texas, USA). The company also has 1.4 GW of cell manufacturing facility with an expansion capacity up to 5.4 GW.
