Spanish developer Zelestra has secured a 16.2 MW power purchase agreement (PPA) in India with Daimler India Commercial Vehicles, a wholly owned subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, Germany.
In total, Zelestra will supply 29 GWh of renewable energy annually, from both wind and solar PV assets, for the Daimler India Commercial Vehicles factory in Oragadam, near Chennai.
DICV manufactures commercial trucks and luxury buses under the BharatBenz brand as well as Daimler Trucks’ brands of FUSO, Mercedes-Benz and Freightliner at its factory in Chennai.
“The PPA demonstrates Zelestra’s ability to co-create tailor-made solutions for clients by utilizing both wind and solar assets to meet the specific needs of DICV’s operations,” stated Zelestra.
With a portfolio of 28 GW of carbon-free projects in 13 countries, Zelestra is a company specialized in the development, commercialization, construction and operation of large-scale renewable energy projects. It is backed by EQT, one of the world’s largest funds, with more than €269 billion in assets under management.
In India, Zelestra has a pipeline of over 5 GW of clean energy projects in seven different states.
