Energy Efficiency Services Limited, a joint venture of public sector undertakings under the Ministry of Power, has appointed Arun Kumar Mishra as chief executive officer (CEO) on deputation. Mishra will be responsible for EESL’s operations across the nation.
Mishra brings to EESL more than three decades of experience in state-run power producer National Thermal Power Corporation Limited (NTPC) and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), including Policy perspective as Director, National Smart Grid Mission (NSGM)– Project Management Unit (PMU) and Vice Chair, International Smart Grid Action Network (ISGAN).
Sharing his thoughts, Mishra said, “It is an honor to be a part of world’s largest public Energy Service Company (ESCO). Government of India has acknowledged potential of renewable energy and energy efficiency as the key pillars of National climate change strategies. I look forward to consolidating EESL leadership position in sustainable energy transformation.”

A joint venture of NTPC Limited, Power Finance Corporation, Rural Electrification Corporation and POWERGRID, Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) was set up under Ministry of Power to facilitate implementation of energy efficiency projects. EESL is a Super Energy Service Company (ESCO) that seeks to unlock energy efficiency market in India, estimated at Rs. 74,000 crore, that can potentially result in energy savings of up to 20 per cent of current consumption, by way of innovative business and implementation models driven by market aggregation. It also acts as the resource center for State Distribution Companies (DISCOMs), State Development Authorities (SDAs), upcoming Energy Service Companies (ESCOs), financial institutions, etc.
