A leader in low-carbon energy solutions, ENGIE celebrated National Energy Conservation Day by organising a plantation drive across its operational sites in India. Commemorating the day, ENGIE planted 500 seasonal and native saplings at their 17 plant locations in the states of Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. The sustainability initiative is aimed at promoting and conserving biodiversity around ENGIE’s operational sites.
In order to further increase awareness and educate about energy conservation, ENGIE also organized workshops, planting drives, and hung awareness posters for the students of the surrounding government primary schools with the theme “SAVE ENERGY, SAVE FUTURE.”
Addressing the occasion, Amit Jain, Managing Director, ENGIE India said, “ENGIE’s practices align with its 2045 net zero commitment and further embed the need to protect and preserve the environment. The mission to plant trees is a part of ENGIE’s wider efforts to promote decarbonisation and instil the idea that conserving the environment ‘now’ will result in a brighter tomorrow.”
ENGIE lives up to its commitment to supporting India with its 2030 Clean Energy Goals. Every milestone and achievement demonstrates ENGIE’s dedication to supporting the government of India through its energy transformation strategy and to achieving a clean energy target of 500 GW by 2030.
