FICCI-MAHAPREIT sign MoU to drive renewable energy, decarbonization and sustainability initiatives

FICCI and Mahatma Phule Renewable Energy and Infrastructure Technology Limited (MAHAPREIT) yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on promoting renewable energy, decarbonization, energy efficiency, and environmental compliance across Maharashtra. The partnership aims to establish a non-binding framework for cooperation between the two organizations to advance sustainability and clean energy solutions in the state.

The key objectives of this collaboration include:

  1. Promoting Renewable Energy Projects: Facilitating the development and deployment of renewable energy initiatives across Maharashtra to enhance energy security and reduce carbon footprints.
  2. Driving Decarbonization Initiatives: Supporting industries and infrastructure projects in adopting decarbonization practices to achieve net-zero emissions targets.
  3. Enhancing Energy Efficiency: Implementing energy efficiency measures in both large-scale industries and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to optimize energy consumption, carbon emissions in alignment with government policies and global best practices and reduce costs.
  4. Ensuring Environmental Compliance: Assisting businesses in meeting environmental standards and aligning with sustainability goals to foster a cleaner and greener future.

 Mr Dinesh Joshi, Co-Chairman, FICCI Maharashtra State Council, said, “FICCI is committed to supporting Maharashtra Government in its efforts to drive the state’s journey towards

sustainable development. This partnership with MAHAPREIT will enable us to drive impactful initiatives in renewable energy and environmental sustainability.”

He further added that this collaboration underscores the commitment of both organizations to driving innovation and sustainable development, aligning with India’s ambitious climate goals and global sustainability agenda.

 Ms Ujjwala Singhania, Co-Chair, FICCI Maharashtra State Council, said that under the collaboration, FICCI and MAHAPRIET can also look at promoting women led industrial parks with focus on establishing presence of businesses, which provide sustainable products, services and solutions aligned with the objective of our partnership.

 Mr Sushil Jiwarajka, Past Chair, FICCI Western Regional council, who facilitated the MoU between the two organizations, lauded the various initiatives taken by MAHAPRIET in a short span of time and how it can benefit FICCI members and Industry at large. The MoU will also pave the way for aggregation of demand by stakeholders in multiple sectors and help bring sustainability solutions at affordable cost for MSMEs.

 Mr Bipin Shrimali, Managing Director, MAHAPREIT, said, joining hands between FICCI and MAHAPREIT will begin a new chapter in cooperation between Industry and Government of Maharashtra, especially in the area of Climate Change concerns and mitigation, Renewable Energy Transition and Futuristic Energy demand Integration. This will help in achieving Net carbon zero regime through series of measures, Initiatives and Innovative projects on decarbonizing energy demand by jointly leveraging synergy of FICCI and MAHAPREIT’s network and ecosystem.
