At NSEFI, over the last 12 years, we are proud to play our part in this momentous 100 GW journey by
bridging the aspirations of the industry with the vision of the Government over the last decade. The National Solar Energy Federation of India (NSEFI), India’s largest Industry Association for Renewable Energy Companies, extends its heartfelt congratulations to all the industry stakeholders and the government for this monumental achievement of 100 GW of installed solar capacity. This significant milestone marks a new era in India’s journey towards realizing its climate targets.
NSEFI’s CEO Subrahmanyam Pulipaka emphasized that “India’s Energy Transition landscape has witnessed acceleration in installing Renewable Energy capacity over the last Decade. Scaling up from 3 GW in 2014 to 100 GW in almost 10 years is a testament to the resilience of Indian Solar industry. On behalf of the entire solar fraternity, NSEFI would like to thank the support and commend the vision of The Indian Government under the leadership of Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, that enabled creation of business-friendly ecosystem here the Solar Industry can thrive. Aided by cohesive policies, coupled with continuous feedback from the Industry, The central Government along with states have played a pivotal role in achieving this milestone”.
India is now the 4th largest Country after China, United States and Germany to cross the 100GW Solar capacity milestone. “India is now an inspiration to several countries (both developed and developing), especially the Global South, to learn and understand how to enable accelerated Energy Transition” says NSEFI CEO.
Talking about the future trajectory, NSEFI CEO says “We have more than 90GW of projects in different stages of implementation and another 40 + GW awaiting LoAs or under bidding. It is, hence, safe to say that the celebrations for the next 100 GW are also just around the corner.
At NSEFI we believe we will be adding 30-32 GW of Solar installation next financial year and then scale to 42-45 GW in 2026-27. Apart from the activity surrounding utility scale bids, there is also a positive trend in Commercial and Industrial uptake for Renewable Energy which is encouraging. Government of India’s flagship schemes – PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana as well as PM KUSUM are also expected to contribute significantly to capacity addition in the next 2 years.
NSEFI also expresses its heartfelt gratitude for the continuous support from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India which has been at the forefront of India’s impressive Renewable Energy journey. Renewable Energy Implementing Agencies including NTPC, SECI, NHPC and SJVN along with IREDA, PFC and REC have also been central to achieving the 100GW milestone.
