Havells India Ltd has signed binding term sheet to invest INR 600 crore in Surat-based PV module manufacturer Goldi Solar (Goldi). As part of conditions precedent to the transaction, Havells will enter into a master supply and service agreement with Goldi for consistent supply of solar modules and cells.
Goldi Solar has launched a PV module manufacturing line, powered by automated optical inspection (AOI) and artificial intelligence, at its Kosamba factory in Gujarat. The line was inaugurated by Pralhad Joshi, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy.
Solar module manufacturers are quickly ramping up to multi gigawatt-scale capacity to tap the domestic demand. At technology level, TOPCon modules based on 210 rectangular silicon wafer (G12R) cell are taking center stage.
Goldi Solar is entering PV cell production with the setting up of 4 GW per year manufacturing capacity. The company is also ramping up its module capacity to 14 GW by Dec. 2025, from 3 GW at present.
