Shirdi Sai Electricals aims to achieve 10 GW of ingot-to-solar module capacity, along with manufacturing of solar glass, by March 31, 2026.
Reliance Industries Ltd will invest in building 10 GW of solar energy generation capacity in the state of Andhra Pradesh. It has also applied for 6 GW of poly-to-module capacity under the second round of the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for solar manufacturing which received bids from eleven companies in total.
The increase in the financial layout will help accommodate more manufacturers under the government’s production-linked incentives scheme to support gigawatt-scale manufacturing of high-efficiency solar modules.
The Telangana based power distribution transformer manufacturer and installer had placed an INR 1,875 crore incentive bid to set up a fully integrated 4 GW polysilicon-to-module fab under government’s production-linked incentives scheme.
The four companies will each have half of their planned 4 GW annual production of polysilicon-to-module output subsidized by public funds.
Adani and Reliance New Energy, along with Jindal India Solar and Shirdi Sai Electricals, are the top scorers in the shortlist released for the production-linked incentives (PLI) scheme for high-efficiency module manufacturing. The list also includes 14 other companies vying for the incentives. The PLI requirement quoted by the shortlisted applicants will decide the beneficiaries.
The Andhra Pradesh solar auction was oversubscribed by 8.5 GW, but the final prices are significantly higher than the INR 1.99-2.00/kWh record-low tariffs discovered in recent auctions.
