GreenH Electrolysis has supplied and deployed a 1 MW proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer for the hydrogen production and refuelling station serving India’s first indigenous hydrogen-powered train operating on the Sonipat–Jind section.

Manufactured at the company’s facility in Jhajjar, Haryana, the electrolyzer is based on technology from GreenH’s parent company, H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies, and can produce 420 kg of green hydrogen per day.

Indian Railways had awarded Medha Servo Drives Ltd the contract to retrofit a diesel electric multiple unit (DEMU) train operating on the Sonipat–Jind section to a hydrogen-powered train. Medha selected GreenH Electrolysis for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the hydrogen production and refuelling station.

According to GreenH, the hydrogen production and refuelling station is a fully integrated turnkey solution encompassing process engineering, electrical systems, instrumentation and controls, and advanced safety systems to support seamless train operations. The facility features 3,000 kg of hydrogen storage, hydrogen compressors, and hydrogen dispensers with pre-cooling for train refuelling.

GreenH Electrolysis, a joint venture between H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies and Castlegreen Energy, manufactures PEM electrolyzers and develops green hydrogen production systems in India.
